Traffic lights to be replaced on A51 near Aldi next week
23 January 2020Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Highways team will need to replace traffic signal equipment on the A51 near Aldi next week.
The traffic lights on the Tarvin Road/Vicars Cross Road/Shed Lane/The Holkham junction, near to the Aldi store, had developed a fault and replacement parts were unavailable.
Work is expected to start on Tuesday 28 January and last up to three days. Temporary traffic signals and some lane narrowing will be in place during the work period.
Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport said: “We are unable to repair the fault on the existing equipment as replacement parts are unavailable. The traffic signal controller and traffic signal heads are to be replaced with new equipment which will be low energy and provide energy cost savings. The new equipment will also operate at extra low voltage, so will be less hazardous should the equipment become damaged.
“Some delays are inevitable as this work takes place. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank motorists in the area for their patience while this equipment is upgraded.”
