Chester Supertrees - Update
16 August 2019There will be an inner lane closure around the Hoole Road roundabout from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 August. The closure is for the delivery and installation of the Supertree structures by crane. During the day traffic will also be stopped three times for approximately two minutes to allow the crane to move position. The three tree structures are scheduled to be in place by Wednesday afternoon. The structures, in the shape of trees will be planted with various climbing plants in September, increasing the plant diversity, which in turn will increase the animal and insect diversity. It is expected to take between two to three years for the climbing plants to reach the top of the trees. Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader Cheshire West and Chester Council confirmed that: “This is only really the beginning, the Supertrees will take a few years to establish the plants growing on them. The area is being transformed and not only provides a new area to enjoy but is creating a new welcome for the city”.
