Help for families over the half term

With half term on the horizon, the Council wants to let families know that there is a range of support available to them from a number of organisations over the next week.

The Council is working with several partners, including the Welcome Network, Edsential and ForHousing, to support vulnerable children throughout the borough.

Information about the Community Food Offer, coordinated by the Welcome Network, West Cheshire Foodbank, Mid Cheshire Foodbank and community groups, and other support available has been communicated to parents and guardians through schools. Information is also available on the Live Well Cheshire West website: The Council recently declared a Poverty Emergency at Full Council, highlighting that poverty is an important local priority going forward.
Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: “It continues to be a difficult and unprecedented time, and we know that there are families in our communities who are struggling financially.

“We want to make sure that families know that there is support available to them throughout the October half term. Useful resources for the half term can be found on the Council website.”

“I’d also like to thank the many businesses across west Cheshire who have offered their help to children over the half term.”

Cllr Robert Cernik, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “It is important that families know there is support available to them locally, such as the Community Food Offer – which is available across the borough. We would encourage these families to take up this help where it is needed.”
