Local care provider receives 'Good' rating in recent inspections

7 February 2019

Vivo Care Choices, based across the borough, is delighted with the outcome of two recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection reports. The inspectors rated both services as 'Good' in all five assessment criteria:
  • safety
  • effectiveness
  • caring
  • responsiveness
  • leadership.
The Northwich Network, part of Vivo Care Choices (a company managed by Cheshire West and Chester Council), was inspected last November. It is a supported living service, offering support to older people and people with learning disabilities, sensory impairments and physical disabilities. The service provides personal care to adults within their own homes. Highlights from the recent inspection report include "There was a positive and caring culture amongst all the staff we spoke with during our inspection. Staff recognised the importance of supporting people to live and enjoy life as independently as possible."

An inspection visit also took place early January at the Coronation Centre for the Shared Lives scheme. The Shared Lives service has dedicated carers within the borough, offering long-term family support, respite care and sessional support to people in Cheshire West. The report highlights the 'Good' ratings, with staff training being firmly in place and a robust recruitment process being applied for staff and carers. The report points out "Carers we contacted spoke with affection and respect about the people they supported."

Cllr Paul Dolan, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care at Cheshire West and Chester Council, adds: "We are delighted with the outcome of the recent inspections at Vivo Care Choices. The team are committed to providing an excellent care service to our residents within the borough and we value the team.

"Carers play an invaluable role within our communities and are so passionate in what they do. We will continue to build on this work to further improve the services we offer to our residents." The new service directory for Vivo Care Choices has now launched, promoting the services on offer across the borough for people with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, older people and people with dementia. The Shared Lives team is also looking for residents to become Shared Lives carers. All types of people can become Shared Lives carers, with the role being flexible and personalised to suit the carer. Carers can offer long-term care, short-term care or even day services, which can take place during the day, during the evening or at weekends.
