St Mary’s Creative Space is preparing to launch a festive feast of entertainment over Christmas. Cinema, cabaret, Father Christmas, folk, jazz, banquet and aerial theatre are just some of the activities on the menu.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member Communities and Wellbeing said: “St Mary’s Creative Space is the perfect venue for this Christmas festival. There is an exciting range of activities from various independent organisations with something for all ages and tastes including a visit from Father Christmas himself.
All activities take place at St Mary’s creative space, St Mary’s Hill, Chester, between 1 December and 5 January. Cheshire West and Chester Council support the running of St Mary’s and the Christmas festival that includes:
Sunday 2 December, 7.30pm
SoundBox presents: O'Hooley & Tidow - 'WinterFolk'
Join one of British Folk's mightiest combinations' (MOJO), O'Hooley & Tidow, for their WinterFolk show, an evening of beautifully performed original, contemporary and traditional seasonal songs.
Tuesday 4 December, 7pm
Film: The Killing of a Sacred Deer Chester Film Society presents this latest film from the director of The Lobster.
Saturday 8 December, 2pm to 4pm
The Alternative Christmas Stocking
A magical Christmas celebration with a difference, where talented young people from six youth theatre groups across Cheshire showcase an array of performances.

The Original Panama Jazz Band
Started in Wallasey, in 1954 and still playing great jazz over 60 years later. The music is Dixieland / Chicago style, and will be drawn from a variety of sources: King Oliver’s classic Chicago jazz, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and some more contemporary sources.
Storytime with Santa
Bringing the magic of Christmas alive as children will be captivated by traditional and modern stories as well as plenty of festive songs to join in with, a fun experience for the whole family. Every child will have the opportunity to talk to Santa and give him their Christmas wishes, and will also receive a festive gift.

It’s Christmas Eve in Bedford Falls, and George Bailey is broken and suicidal over the misplacement of an $8,000 loan and the scheming of evil millionaire, Mr Potter. George’s guardian angel appears to show him what life would be like if he was no longer there.
