Annual Public Health Report is on film for the first time
14 July 2021The story of how communities are pulling together to help each other through the pandemic has been brought to life in a film by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Every Director of Public Health (DsPH) is required to produce an annual independent report. The report is produced retrospectively, reflecting the previous calendar year. This report covers the period January to December 2020.
The PHAR for 2020 is entitled Not on mute: Our response to COVID-19 in Cheshire West and Chester (PART ONE) and was launched at the live webcast of the COVID-19 Outbreak Board on 7 July.
Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: "The film tells the story of how our residents alongside the council, the NHS, our emergency services and our fantastic voluntary and community sector, have all worked together in Cheshire West and Chester.
"As we navigate our way out of the pandemic, it remains our Public Health priority to work together with our partners and our communities. The council intends to build upon our work and innovation to date and continue leading the way in ensuring our residents have better life chances, better health and longer lives."
Ian Ashworth, Director of Public Health, said: "It has been a quite exceptional year in so many ways. A huge positive aspect has been the way that the community and all our partner agencies have pulled together with the Council to work cohesively together. It has been incredible and difficult to describe other than through the medium of film.
"The film captures that incredible spirit. Everyone should be very proud."
