Gather Together

When: 5 November 2019

Where: Deva Point, Blacon Point Road, Chester, CH11 5FD

Time: 11.30am

Description: 'Gather Together' is a project developed by Hayley Riley and Louise Harris of Haylo Theatre, a two woman theatre company that creates bespoke performances and workshops that initiate inter-generational conversations around difficult subjects, such as the impact of health upon individuals, families and communities.

The aim of 'Gather Together' is to affirm the value of the older generation, by bringing people together in the community to share their stories and experiences through a range of artistic outputs such as writing, art work and theatrical performances which tell stories about their varied life experiences and future aspirations. The group meet weekly and are working producing a show back event which will engage and educate the whole community.

Hayley explained: We believe that our theatre and reminiscence workshops will help to enhance communication, increase a sense of personal identity and provide an enjoyable social activity.

Louise said: Gather together allows for a space to address isolation by giving participants a valuable sense of community, found in the sharing of an experience, and allowing friendships to be forged within the group. Research shows that projects like 'Gather Together' can make a big difference to the community. Stimulating memories from the past whilst looking to the future can help maintain identity and also forge new friendships in an enjoyable and entertaining environment!

'Gather Together' is open to anyone over the age of 50, the sessions take place every Wednesday at Devan Point, Blacon between 11.30am - 12.30pm.
