Witness Appeal for a serious assault

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Ellesmere Port. Sometime between 12.30am and 1.30am on Monday 27th April 2015, a group of men were drinking in an alleyway by Woodfield Road, Ellesmere Port. They were approached by a group of four men and after a brief conversation an altercation took place on Woodfield Road near to Victoria Road.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was knocked to the floor and suffered a head injury, his friend was also assaulted.


The investigation team is appealing for two potential witnesses who may hold vital information to come forward they are described as-
 
 
  1. A white female, who helped the victim after he was knocked to the floor, she is described as having curly hair possibly blond.
  2. A white male around 180cm tall, slim build, 30-40 years of age, with short dark hair, clean shaven, wearing a light coloured T shirt and dark coloured body warmer, who walked passed the victim and his friends in the alleyway before the altercation.   
A local male 36 year old male has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

DS Rob Grantham said: “This took place in a residential area and members of the public were around following the assault. I would urge anyone who saw the assault or the aftermath, or knows who these men are, to contact me so that we can find the person responsible for a violent assault which has left a man fighting for his life.”
