Burglary offences in area

Alert message sent 23/06/2015 12:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Across Chester and Ellesmere Port in recent weeks there have been an increase in suspicious incidents whereby unknown males with Irish accents have approached elderly residents and attempted to gain money for gardening/maintenance work which is then not completed.

This is also a common MO used by individuals to distract the resident, whilst another offender sneaks into the property and steals items from within.
Yesterday a male with an Irish accent was seen in Churton in a vehicle described as a Silver/gun metal Vauxhall Vectra/Insignia with dark green letter “M” and letter “A” above it on the driver’s door.

There has also been reports of Asian families being targeted for cash and jewelry and I would urge local residents to set alarms when leaving the house unoccupied and ensure valuable items are secured, if possible away from the address, particularly if your property is left unoccupied for a period of time.

Anyone with information please contact Detective Sergeant 3977 Brunes from Ellesmere Port Proactive Policing Team.
