Theft of vehicles during burglaries within the Ellesmere Port area
 
Over the past month a number of burglaries have been reported, in the Ellesmere Port area in which vehicles have been stolen after the keys have been obtained during a burglary.
In some instances a vehicle has been removed from the driveway in order to access a particular vehicle.

Vehicles mainly being targeted appear to be high powered vehicles, such as VW Golf and BMW vehicles, although other makes of vehicle are also being taken.

In one instance a report was received regarding some suspicious males in an Audi S3 Quattro believed to be looking at a VW Golf GTI.  A brick was thrown through the windscreen of an attending police vehicle before males left the area.  It later transpired the Audi motor vehicle used by the males was on cloned registration plates.

Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
· Take sensible crime prevention action.
· Garage your car if possible.
· Fit outdoor lights with movement sensors.
· Ensure doors to garages and you property are locked, even when you are at home.
· If you have an alarm fitted make sure it is working correctly.
· If you have CCTV check it is fully operational.

· If your vehicle has a tracker ensure it is activated.
