Policing the areas of Northwich, Winsford, Tarporley, Sandiway & Cuddington
10th March 2016
On 30th January 2016 at 10pm, two offenders entered McColl’s Store on Cheviot Square, Winsford. One offender was brandishing a hammer and another a kitchen knife. Both threatened the two shop workers, a 29 year old female and a 23 year old male. They demanded cash and made off with a quantity of money from the till. I am pleased to report that on 1st March 2016 one of the offenders Lee Hathaway from the Merseyside area was arrested for the offence and later charged with this offence and a further 5 similar robbery offences he had committed in Runcorn, Widnes and the St Helens area. He was remanded in custody until he appears at Chester Crown Court on 5th April 2016. These offences have a serious impact on shop workers long after the offence is committed. It is nice to see that we have taken a dangerous travelling criminal off the streets. I will report on the outcome once the criminal justice process has concluded.
On 5th February 2016, a search warrant was executed an address on Bradbury Road, Winsford under the Misuse of Drugs Act. A 43 year old local male and 25 year old male from Merseyside were arrested and later charged with offences relating to the supply of controlled drugs. On 4th March 2016 the defendants appeared before the Crown Court at Chester, Joseph Dixon, 43 years received a 2 year sentence, suspended for two years for permitting his premises to be used for the Supply of Class “A” and James Tallant, 25 years received a 3 year custodial sentence for Possession with Intent to Supply Crack Cocaine and Heroin.
On 20th November 2015 Police executed a search warrant at an address in Hampstead Court, Winsford. A 56 year old male was arrested for Possession and Distribution of indecent images of Children. On 7th March 2016 he appeared at Chester Crown Court and received a prison sentence of 3 years 8 Months.
Breach of Criminal Behaviour Order
I reported last week a 42 year old male Darren Sysum from Northwich, being made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) as a result of an application by Northwich Police. The Order was granted at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 1st February, with a number of conditions that Sysum must abide by, for a period of 5 years.
SYSUM IS Prohibited from:
1) Use or encourage others to use, any foul, abusive, insulting and offensive threatening or intimidating Language or behaviour in any public place 2) From 4pm on the 4th March 2016 not to enter Northwich as bounded by Whalley Road, Church Road,Chester Way, Leicester Street, Watling Street, Weaver Way and Barons Quay Road. Except to travel along Chester Way directly to or from Lidl, Northwich Police Station and Northwich Bus Station or along Leicester Street to or from Aldi. Also permitted to enter the exclusion zone to attend at St Wilfred’s Church, 142 Witton Street, Northwich, each Saturday between the hours of 9am and 12 noon for the sole purpose of attending the Alcoholic Anonymous Meeting) 3) Be drunk in any public place in the Northwich area as detailed in attached maps. Titled Northwich North and Northwich South. 4) Be in possession of an open or unsealed vessel of alcohol in any public place in England or Wales 5) Associate in any public place with Christopher Williamson, Jason Lowe, Peter Gibson, Andrew Rogerson, Scott Carter and Gareth Simmons.
For some time we have been working closely with partner agencies to support Mr Sysum and he has been given ample opportunity to engage with support services. However, it became necessary to apply for this Order due to his continued behaviour which was having a detrimental effect on the emergency services, local businesses and the public. We are also pleased that the Order contains a positive requirement for him to engage with services, who can help and provide on-going support.
Sysum breached the order on 3rd March as he was drunk on Tescos car park, Manchester Road, Northwich. He was sentenced the next day to 28 days in custody.
An update and schedule of road works for Northwich Town Centre

And also widening of both sides of Leicester Street working in the verge area.
