Community News

On 18th April we received a call from Boots the chemist on Park Lane reporting a shoplifter. The male was stopped on Queensway along with 2 other males who were found to be in possession of a quantity of other stolen items. Officers managed to trace the movement of the offenders and found that they had been into several other local stores. All three males were arrested and charged with shoplifting offences.

On 29th April around 5pm a robbery occurred at the Royal Bank of Scotland on Fountain Place. 2 males have been arrested and charged in connection with this incident. We are continuing our efforts to trace a third male involved with the robbery. Please review any CCTV you may have in the area, particularly if you live on Oak Grove, Chester Road or London Road North. If your CCTV has captured any suspicious behavior or you have any information or witnessed anything to this incident and have not yet spoken to police please call 101 quoting incident 696 of 29/04/2016.

Vehicle and Property Crime

Around 1am on the 1st April a front door was damaged on Hockley Road. Youths were seen in the area at the time. Please call 101 and quote incident 45 of 01/04/2016 if you have any information regarding this incident.

Between 31st March and 4th April we received 4 reports of burglaries across London Road North and Park Avenue. One of these we know burglaries occurred during daylight hours. Please always remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or activity to us by calling 101. By calling us you could be preventing a crime from happening and you could be assisting us with catching the offenders.

On 4th April around 9.15pm we received a call regarding a group of youths who had thrown eggs at a property on Parklands Way. Please always report anti-social behavior to us using the non-emergency number 101 or 999 if the youths are still in the area and causing damage. By reporting these incidents we can see what areas of Poynton are being affected by anti-social behavior and increase patrols in that area to catch the offenders.

On 15th April between 5.30pm and 7pm a burglary occurred at a property on London Road North. Please remember to lock all doors and keep valuables away from windows when you leave your property. Please always report suspicious behavior i.e. if you see someone you don’t know in your next door neighbours garden.

Over the past month we have had an increase in Anti-social behavior regarding youths breaking into an abandon building and climbing onto the scout hut roof off Coppice Road. Please if you have young adults or children living with you explain the dangers of what such activities can lead to. Abandon buildings are unsafe and dangerous. Please educate your child before they come to harm.

On 19th April between 4.15pm and 5.15pm a burglary occurred on Hepley Road entry was gained through a ground floor window. If you have any information please call 101 and quote incident 669 of 19/04/2016.

Overnight 19th – 20th April a number of sheds, garages and cars were broken into across Higher Poynton. A number of push bikes were stolen. These incidents occurred on Coppice Road, Trafalgar Avenue, and Dale House Fold. If you have any information or your CCTV has captured anything please call Cheshire Police on 101.

During daylight hours on 29th April three burglaries occurred across Chester Road and London Road North. If you have any information regarding these burglaries please call us on 101.

Officers will be at a Police Drop in Surgery held at Lawrence Place on Saturday 14th May 2016 10am-12pm.

Officers will be holding a Crime Prevention Surgery at Waitrose, Park Lane on Saturday 21st May 2016 10am – 12pm.

Officers will be at the Higher Poynton Surgery held at The Trading Post, Lyme Rd on Sunday 29th May 2016 10am – 12pm.
