Community News

On Saturday 21st May officers were in attendance and assisted at the Poynton Family Sports Event held at Poynton Leisure Centre. Despite the weather many local residents and family’s attended and enjoyed  the event, which also included an inflatable football pitch and a showcase of sports to trial and sign up to.

On 13th May we have received a report of a distraction theft that has taken place in the car park of Queensway. Offenders have targeted the elderly victim by asking to change some money. The victim has become distracted by the offender and once they have returned home they have realised that there bank cards have been taken from the victim’s wallet/purse. Please make your elderly friends and relatives aware of this incident and if someone approaches you/them to exchange money or ask for directions please always keep your wallet/purse close to you and don’t be afraid to turn them away.

Property and Vehicle Crime

Between 25th April and 1st May a burglary occurred at a property on Midway Drive and a vehicle was stolen from the drive. The vehicle was stopped after a pursuit in Congleton and 3 males were arrested from the stolen vehicle.

Overnight 1st – 2nd May an attempt burglary occurred on Brookfield Avenue. An implement was used to try and force the front door but no entry was gained. Please always remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to Cheshire Police via 101.

Between 29th April and 4th May a burglary occurred at a property on Woolley Avenue, entry was gained by forcing the rear patio doors. If you have any information of have seen any suspicious activity in the area please call 101 and quote incident 567 of 4/5/16.

On 4th May around midday a leaf blower was stolen from a van parked up on Anglesy Drive, the offender was seen to get into a yellow car before driving away. If you have any information or CCTV please call 101 and quote Crime number CC16128496.

Around 2am on the 19th May a home owner on Brookfield Avenue was disturbed by hearing someone at their front door. When they went to investigate the offender had tried to use a stick through the letter box to obtain car keys let in view to a high valued vehicle parked on the drive. Please DO NOT leave house keys or car keys near to any external doors.

Around 10pm on 20nd May a building was burgled on Hazelbadge Road. Offender gained entry by smashing a secure door and have stolen laptops from within. Did you witness anything or know anything about the incident? Please contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1034 of 20/05/16.

On 27th May Cheshire fire were in attendance at a house fire on Coppice Road a 85yr old male believed to be the occupant was sadly died at the scene. Police are working closely with Cheshire Fire in a joint investigation into the cause of the fire which is not thought to have been started deliberately.

Overnight 25th-26th May an attempt was made to gain entry into a shed on Elm Beds Rd. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity via 101 or 999 if you believe a crime is happening or about to take place.

Over the weekend 27th-31st May a burglary occurred at the derelict school next to Vernon Primary School. Offenders have gained entry by climbing the fence and forcing a locked door. Once inside offenders have caused damage to the property. A large group of youths were seen in the area. If you have young people in your family please express to them the dangers of entering a derelict site. Derelict building are often unsafe and have hidden dangers including unsafe floors, roofs.

Other News

On 3rd May a disqualified driver was arrested and his vehicle seized for no insurance by our Roads Policing Team on London Road North.

On 7th May a vehicle was stop checked on London Road South and the driver was arrested after failing a road side breath test.

On 17th May around 3pm a member of the public called in reporting 2 suspicious males on Woolley Avenue. Officers attended and one of the males was found to be in possession of a small amount of a Class A drug. The male was arrested and given an adult caution.

On 19th May a driver was arrested for failing a roadside drug swipe on London Road North.

Officers will be at a Police Drop in Surgery held at Lawrence Place on Saturday 11th June 2016 10am-11pm.

Officers will be holding a Crime Prevention Surgery at Waitrose, Park Lane on Saturday 18th June 2016 10am – 12pm.

Officers will be at the Higher Poynton Surgery held at The Trading Post, Lyme Rd on Sunday 26th June 2016 10am – 12pm.
