Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

           CHESHIRE POLICE
           Please be aware of the below:
 
  • Informant was contacted on his landline by a male claiming to work on behalf of BT from 02081448871. The male caller claimed that there had been an issue with the informants internet security and unless he followed some instructions to rectify it they would have to disconnect it for a 2 weeks. Informant therefor logged onto his computer and authorised access via "teamviewer". The caller then accessed several sites visited by the informant an unbeknownst to his attempted to transfer £250.49 x 3 into a western union account. Informant bank has contacted him whilst the "scam" was taking place and fortunately nothing was taken from his account on this occasion.
