Disley crime update

Alert message sent 20/03/2017 21:25:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Evening

I have had a few people ask me what has happened to the crime reports in Disley and you will be pleased to hear that I have not had much to report from the last month or so!
This doesn’t mean that we should let our guards down though as there have been 2 incidents that I think you should know about.

The first incident is a scrap metal dealer that has gone into the rear garden of a property and taken metal items. Please think about items that you leave outside your homes such a children’s bikes etc as these are sometimes wrongly taken by scrap metal merchants.

The second incident involves an elderly victim being scammed out of thousands of pounds by a complex and convincing telephone scam. If you have elderly relatives, friends or neighbours please make them aware of this and tell them not to give out bank details or transfer money to anyone they don’t know.

We are also starting a new initiative called “The Herbert Protocol” which is intended to assist care workers, police and partner agencies when vulnerable people go missing.
The Herbert Protocol is essentially a form that a carer or family member fills in. The form contains information such as places the missing person frequents, hobbies and habits. This information can then be given to a police officer who can start a prompt and effective search for the missing person.
