Message from your new Inspector

“Good day to you all and pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Fez Khan and I am the new Police Inspector covering the Local Policing Unit here in Runcorn. I have recently landed having spent the last 2 years working as a Critical Incident Manager (Response Inspector) and have spent the majority of my 12 years’ service with Cheshire Police working in frontline policing roles. I am extremely excited and privileged to take over from Insp Mike Skillen here at Runcorn and am a great believer and firm advocate in neighbourhood policing. I have been impressed with the proactive work ethic and community focused mindset of all my staff and colleagues here so far and look forward to contributing towards making Runcorn a safe and pleasant place to live and work. I intend to continue to encourage and support our multitude of worthwhile community engagement initiatives, as well as encourage all of you to get in touch with any questions or concerns you may have in your local area. I am very much a people person and will be looking to be out and about and visible in your areas as often as I can so please feel free to come and say hello, otherwise I will! You can follow me on Twitter should you wish to do so at @FezKhan or through @Police Runcorn. Be safe and always dial 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-emergency matters.”

Phoenix Park Experience

This year Runcorn Local Policing Unit aim to set up a new event called Phoenix Park Experience (PPX) which will take place on Friday 4th August between 11am-3pm and will replace Party in the Park.  We are hoping to follow the lead from the highly successful Victoria Park Experience (VPX) which has run for 10 years in Warrington’s Victoria Park.  They began their first year engaging with 50 children and last year over a 4 day period almost 10,000 people attended, 5810 were children.  It has become the biggest free event for young people in Warrington.

Anti-social behaviour is a problem in Runcorn as it is in many towns and an event like this aims to break down barriers between the Police and those young people engaging in this type of criminality. By engaging with these young people it will have a knock on effect in helping prevent other members of our communities also affected by ASB – such as the local council, bus companies, businesses and the housing providers as well as the local residents. This is event has been funded by local partners and is completely free for you to attend and everybody is welcome!

Runcorn Police own social media accounts

Please can you all follow both Runcorn Police’s own twitter account which is @PoliceRuncorn and also our own facebook account which is Runcorn Police, this will ensure you receive all news and information relevant to the Runcorn area and not just the Cheshire area as a whole.   I also now have my own twitter and facebook account for the news and items on your area @ChePolBowden and PC Zoe Bowden.
