December Update!
Dear all,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year! In the spirit of the New Year, I am trying out this new format for the newsletter. Rather than creating a large PDF document, I am thinking of sending all future news updates in this more simple format which should make it easier and quicker to read through... Please let me know your thoughts by replying to this message!

Thank you,

PC Hooton.

News in your area...
We have had lots of reports this month, and have responded to a total of 74 incidents in your area at the time of writing.
Off Road Bikes
In the past month we have had several reports of off-road bikes in your area. Please continue to call in on 101 if you are aware of any off-road bikes causing a nuisance in Murdishaw and Norton, we are working hard to tackle the issue. So far we have introduced a new initiative using SelectaDNA sprary to help us identify those involved in using off-road bikes illegally, and we are also working alongside Local Housing groups in order to identify properties with these bikes and seizing them to prevent further offences.
If you have an off-road bike, please obey the law and only use it on designated land designed for its use. This does not include local parks and grassland, and you can not ride the bike to get to any designated space - it must be transported in another vehicle or trailer. Please remember to wear a helmet - better safe than sorry!

Burglary and Suspicious Activity...
Throughout December - an infamously busy time for burglary and theft offences, we have received 8 reports of this type in Murdishaw alone: 5 cases of suspicious activity, 2 attempt burglaries and 1 confirmed burglary. All offences of this type are taken seriously and looked into/investigated to ensure the safety of the public AND their property. If you believe there are intruders in your, or another property please call 999 - if you spot suspicious activity please call 101 to report.

Arrests on your area...
This month Cheshire Police arrested 3 people in your area. One male was arrested following a missing person report for an offence of criminal damage committed in 2015 in Northumberland. A second male was arrested for assaulting a family member and a Police officer, and lastly a third male was arrested for domestic assault and domestic related criminal damage.

That's all the news I have to bring you this month. I appreciate this newsletter seems much shorter than usual - but we have split the letters between Brookvale and Murdishaw so the news now only comes to you from Norton North (Murdishaw) and Norton South (Brookvale) receive their own separate letter.

Please let me know via email your views on this - would you prefer this format or the old one? Do you want the news for Brookvale as well?

Your suggestions will be much appreciated.

Happy New Year!

PC Hooton
