Mobile Phone Scam Alert

Alert message sent 07/03/2018 19:48:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hi There,
We hope this finds you well.  I felt we need to raise awareness following a number of reports of people being scammed by opening a link on their mobile phones.

Within the last few days the banks have confirmed they have had numerous complaints regarding these so please make people you know aware.

The messages sent to your mobile go along the following lines - "we have detected suspicious activity on your account.  Please verify via the secure link ( address deleted by us) to prevent account lockout.

If you receive this message or any message similar to the above DO NOT OPEN THE LINK - JUST DELETE THE MESSAGE.

The banks are doing all they can to shut down the criminals operating these scams and, as you can imagine, it is a continuous task.  If you have any issues with mobile banking or the apps then do not use them but call the bank by the number you know to be true.  It doesn't matter what the name of the bank is on the message sent to your phone just delete them as the banks would not send such messages.

Any issues  get in contact with me and I will try and answer your queries.
