Ellesmere Port Police Anti-Social Motorbike Operation

Alert message sent 19/03/2018 16:22:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Operation Crusher
Operation Crusher has been implemented to tackle reports of antisocial motorbike use and the use of off road motorbikes within the ELLESMERE PORT area. There has been a significant increase in reports and sightings of such motorbikes; with a number of near miss accidents reported to Police.
The suspects involved in these incidents are putting members of public at risk, as well as endangering themselves, by driving in such a dangerous manner.

Off road motorcycle? We are looking to combat the antisocial and illegal use of any motorcycle; therefore, the law around off road motorcycles is worth summarising.
An off road motorcycle can be distinguished by a number of methods; the easiest is the lack of number plates at the rear. These vehicles are not road legal so cannot be registered and cannot be ridden on the road. As they are not roadworthy they can be dangerous to other road users and are often driven in an antisocial manner.
The only place an off road motorcycle can be legally used is on private land with the permission of the land owner. Off road motorcycles used on the road cause the local community a great deal of concern and can put lives at risk.

What can you do?  As members of the local community, we all have a responsibility to try to reduce these incidents.

We are asking for assistance in identifying the riders of these motorbikes so formal action can be taken against them.

Do you know who is riding these motorbikes?
Do you know where the motorbikes are being kept?

Then please get in touch – this can be done anonymously.
