Summer Security Advice

Whilst we are all taking advantage of this great weather we are currently experiencing make sure not to let your guard down with security.  Criminals are opportunists and will take advantage of any insecure doors and windows whilst your back is turned.

In you home

- Make sure you lock all of your doors before you go out. - This can also include if you are only going out into the garden,  Would you be able to notice someone approaching your property?
- Ensure you have closed any windows that have been open during the day before you go to bed.  If you need to leave a window open lock them in position if you can.

In the garden

- Make sure you remember to lock your shed/garage if you have been using it during the day.
- If you have a side gate on your property check that it is secure before you go in for the evening.
- Try to keep any hedges or shrubs in your front garden under windowsill height to prevent burglars having a 'screen' to work behind.
- ALWAYS put any gardening equipment and tools away when you finished with them - a shovel could be just the thing a burglar may need to break in.

In the car

- DON'T leave any valuables in your car or on view - Even if you know a bag on the front seat is empty a thief may still try their luck, leaving you with a broken window or door lock to deal with.
- Remove satellite navigation systems from their holders and take them with you.
- FINALLY, it may sound obvious but if you are leaving your vehicle make sure you have closed any window or sunroofs.

By remembering some simple tips you'll make it more difficult to become a victim of crime.
