Burglary / theft – In May we received a report on an attempted burglary in Millwood, Norton whereby offenders tried to force the back door during early hours of the morning. Thankfully the house alarm was activated and entry was not gained.
We received 1 incident of theft in May, from a motor vehicle on Adlington Road whereby 3 petrol strimmers were taken.
Please make sure you remain vigilant and ensure you lock your vehicles and doors when necessary.
ASB/criminal damage – In terms of ASB we have had a large increase in reports over the last month however a large amount of these reports are neighbor disputes, vehicle queries and council related issues that would not affect the wider public.
Of note from the ASB list we have seen a slight increase in youths throwing stones and intimidating users of Stockham Ski-Slopes and Murdishaw Community Centre. CCTV has been seized and we are hoping to ID the youths and place them on the ASB pathway. Also of note was a report of youths setting a fire at the rear of Norton Care Home in Norton Village.
There has been an increase in May in relation damage to domestic properties at Tilbury Place, Humphreys Close and Hitchens Close ranging from damaged fence panels to smashed windows.
If you witness any such behaviour please contact 101 with as much detail as possible.
Suspicious activity- In May we had a number of suspicious activity incidents reported surrounding peoples/vehicles in certain locations who were there for legitimate reasons however I would never dissuade anybody from contacting the police if something doesn’t seem quite right to you.
The suspicious activity reports of note are those that were covered in my Facebook post and previous Alert whereby animal snares have been found in the area of Littlebourne and another where a corrosive substance has been left on a driveway believed to have been placed there to poison local cats.
