Crime Updates

There have been a number of shopliftings from Co-op in June. At the moment one offender has been dealt with via a penalty notice, and the other offender is yet to be identified.

There have been 4 stop searches carried out in relation to suspected drug activity.

A drugs warrant was executed on Oak Drive. The warrant was successful and the occupant of the address is now part of an ongoing investigation. Information that leads to a warrant comes from a combination of Police Intelligence and information from the public; and successful warrants highlight the importance of that information reaching us.

Anti-Social Behaviour

This month the wonky garden at Grangeway has suffered repeated damage whereby plants have been ripped up and deliberately left them exposed. These plants have then either died, or shown signs that they were close to dying. The community has created this garden and want it to be a place where anyone can help out or just enjoy the surroundings. Patrols are being stepped up and for now, the garden is being locked to prevent ongoing damage.

There was also an incident reported at Langdale Road which tied in with school leavers finishing their exams. I’m hoping that this is a one off and not an ongoing issue.

Suspicious Activity

I am aware this month that there has been someone knocking door to door asking if people want their gutters cleaning. Aside from whether they are genuine or not, it is important that residents look out for each other and do not pay too much for this type of work. I would encourage residents not to feel pressured into agreeing to work being done when people knock on the door. Sometimes opportunist criminals use door knocking to test the ground and find out if people keep cash at home, or whether the criminal can use a small job in order to get the person to pay an inflated price when the job gets finished. Always be suspicious and use trusted workmen.

Roads Policing

I, the PCSO for Grange, continue to use the Speed Enforcement Camera for about an hour a week on the Grange Estate. This month has been focused on Heath Road and Boston Avenue, with one visit to the Spur Road. I have also issued a number of parking tickets on Thorn Road to vehicles that are blocking the pavement or are blocking the dropped kerbs that are in place specifically for the partially sighted. They look like this:

Community information

There is now a Community Notice Board situated next to the Co-op at Grangeway Shops. My contact details are on that board, as well as being on the noticeboard at Grangeway Community Centre. As was mentioned last month, Cheshire Police have set up Facebook and Twitter pages to provide information to residents that is specific to the Grange. The page on Facebook can be found if you search Grange Police – Runcorn (@GrangeRcnPol) and for twitter it can be found under @GrangeRcnPol.
