Community News

Over the past month we have had an increase in reports of Rogue Traders operating in the Poynton and Adlington area. We have been made aware of Cold Callers targeting the elderly and vulnerable population. These callers have been offering exterior maintenance work such as cleaning driveways and have been described as persistent and often don’t take no for an answer. If this is the case please call us on 999. We have also received reports that cold callers have been ringing up a victim claiming to be from the Met Police and asking for their assistance in a fraud case. The Caller then asks the victim to withdraw a substantial amount of cash from their bank which is then collected by the fraudster from their home address.

The Police will never ask you to withdraw any amount of cash. Police Officers will always carry Identification on them, if you’re still not sure you can ring 101 and ask for the Police Force that the Officer claims to be working for and ask if that Officer is genuine and on duty.
