Operation Scarmbler - off road bikes

Alert message sent 13/08/2018 15:56:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon ,

I want to bring to your attention the increasing problem we have in Runcorn , of Motorbikes/ Quad bikes riding on footpaths / public fields and areas. We have had numerous calls about such bikes in the area  . These bikes are a nuisance and a danger to members of the public and especially families using public areas in the summer holidays . We have some success in stopping some of these bikes by seizing them and prosecuting the riders . But we still have many riders/ bikes that we can not trace or identify at this time . I am appealing  to the residents of my Beat Area to help me track down , seize these bikes and identify the riders . I am working closely with other agencies and one of them is the housing providers , to possibly enforce Anti Social Behaviour Contracts against residents who are riding around or store these bikes .If these contracts are broken then their housing agreements are in jeopardy . The Police Beat in Runcorn has started an Operation to target these bikes , Operation Scrambler . We have other resources that we are using to combat these bikes , along with the Local Beat Team . But we do need help from the general public , to ring in any sightings , direction , description of the bike and riders . You could even if possible take pictures of these bikes and send them into myself via email . We are appealing to the local residents and their families to stop these bikes before someone gets hurt .Don't let it be one of your family that gets hurt .

You can contact 101 , email myself or ring anonymous  CRIME STOPPERS on 0800 555111 or fill a form out on their website .

kind regards
