Dear Congleton residents,
Please keep the below information in mind if you are staying in a Hotel over the Christmas period.
Security advice following rise in number of vehicles targeted by
thieves at hotel car parks
Cheshire Police are urging hotels in the county to pass on vehicle security advice to their guests.
In recent months there has been a rise in the number of vehicles that have been targeted by thieves while parked in hotel car parks in Cheshire.
The majority of the incidents that have been reported to police involve tools being stolen from work vans.
Thieves have also stolen handheld electrical devices, clothing, spare wheels, number plates and fuel in hotel car parks.
Incidents have been reported across the county and items have been stolen from cars, pick-up trucks and tankers as well as from vans.
Hotels and motorists are urged to be vigilant and to take steps to reduce the chances of vehicles being targeted by thieves.
Motorists are advised to:
- Park your vehicle in a well-lit area and never leave it unlocked or with windows down
- Items of value should never be left in full view and should not be kept inside a vehicle overnight wherever possible
- Have an alarm fitted to your vehicle to alert you and anyone nearby to break-ins.
