Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good News

This has been a very good month for travelling offenders.
Offenders from all of our main surrounding forces (GMP, MERPOL and Lancs) were all apprehended during the month – all were charged with theft offences.
Info passed to us by JD Sports regarding a team of offenders on the 22nd turned out to be useful (despite the fact that they managed to sneak away into the Orford Lane area) as they were also the suspects for a series of violent Street Robberies – they have since been identified, arrested and charged with the JD Sports Theft as well as the street robberies.
Staff on the Town Centre Unit have been able to identify offenders for two thefts during the month that would have otherwise not been detected – these were both from CCTV footage. Obviously, officers in the Town Centre have considerable experience of dealing with repeat offenders so they tend to identify offenders from CCTV stills more than other units. This reinforces the fact that if an offender gets away, it certainly isn’t the end of the story.
An appeal on Social Media resulted in the identification of suspects from the GMP force area for a series of 3 offences in February 2019 by a team at Go Outdoors. These thefts were for goods to the value in excess of £5000 – these males are currently wanted for this and other serious offences on GMP and North Yorkshire.
