August 2019

Crime update –
  • On the 3rd August at 13:30hrs we received a report of damage to a motor vehicle on Marina Village whereby a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso was keyed overnight.
  • On the 6th August between 11:30 – 13:30 hrs a burglary was reported on Juniper Grove, access gained through the downstairs living room window, where an iMac computer was stolen and untidy search throughout the house was made. Burglary team and CSI have been dealing with this incident. Any info call 101 ref – IML 478380.
  • On 16th August at 14:10hrs a male reported an assault on the entrance to Norton Water Tower whereby youths have thrown an unknown item which has struck caller in the back of the head. Re-assurance and advice has been given to caller, hi-vis patrol in the area has been conducted, no further issues.
  • On 28th August we executed a drugs warrant in the Plover Drive area and recovered a large cannabis farm from within a property. 1 male has been arrested and a leaflet drop has been conducted in the area making residents aware. We continue to urge anybody with information linked to drugs to call us on 101 or alternatively CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.

Suspicious activity –
  • On the 9th August we received a report of a suspicious scam e-mail whereby the caller received an e-mail stating their password and asking for money in bitcoin of £800 or images and videos of caller will be exploited on the darknet etc.

  • A joint police and council Op Scrambler meeting was held on Thu 8th Aug 2019, unfortunately no residents attended the meeting. From the meeting we are making enquiries with Bridgewater Canal and Peel Holding with the view of making the canal towpaths less motorcycle friendly. We have also received a steady stream of intel and CCTV from the public which is being investigated by the Op Scrambler team.
  • On the 14th August at approx. 20:00hrs we received 2 calls of anti-social behavior in the Norton Village Gardens area whereby a small group of youths were ringing buzzers on the gated properties and giving residents abuse. The group were stop and details were taken. ASB pathway letters will be sent home to parents. No further calls.

Roads Policing –
  • Police advisory notice has been issued on Tarnbeck, Norton due to a vehicle obstructing the public footpath.
  • Tru-Cam speed enforcement has taken place on Norton Station Road and Tower Lane throughout August.
  • On 20th August at 14:15 we received reports of a damage on RTC on Ashbury Close, Windmill Hill.

Schools/young people –
  • Schools have been closed for the summer holidays however I have been involved in a number of engagement days including Phoenix Park Experience and Kops n Kids which has been running throughout the summer holidays encouraging local youths to get involved in sporting activities at Brookvale rec. (
