September 2019

Crime update –

On 11th September we received a call from a fraud victim on Norton North who had been coerced into sending sums totaling over £15,000 to a company claiming to be an investment company in BitCoin (Crypto currency). If you suspect you or someone you know has been a victim of fraud please contact us or Action Fraud. (Information and advice surrounding commonly used scams can be found on the Cheshire Police website.

On 11th September I attended at Stockham Lodge on Stockham lane to pick up CCTV which shows a group of youths arguing with security and proceeding to pick up rocks and smash windows at the site. Footage has been passed to CID who are looking at the footage to identify the offending youths.

Suspicious activity –

A man made den has been removed by my colleague and I which was located in the woodland near to Ossett Close, there were signs of alcohol and cannabis use in the den and the issue was brought to my attention by a passing member of public.

During September we have seen a reduction in reported incidents surrounding motorcycle ASB however we are aware that the issue is still there. Op Scrambler is still being run and work is being done behind the scenes in an attempt to identify some of the riders thanks to police bodycam footage and images from concerned members of the public.

Roads Policing –

Police advisory notices have been issued on Long Spinney and Broadfields due to vehicles obstructing the junction during the morning school patrol.

Tru-Cam speed enforcement has taken place on Norton Station Road and Tower Lane throughout September.

Schools/young people –

I have touched base with St Martins and Gorsewood primary since the summer break. I have also completed a ‘Stop the drop’ school talk with the year 6 pupils at St Martin’s school and booked in the same school talk for the year 6 pupils at Gorsewood for Monday 7th October.

I have attended and promoted the introduction of a new weekly activity for young people in the area. ‘Everton In The Community’ have set up a free, weekly class at Brookvale Recreation Centre – Every Thursday 17:30 – 19:00 (ages 8-12) and 18:30 – 20:00 (ages 13-19).
