BURGLARY ALERT – Stanney Lane, Whitby
THIEVES ARE OPERATING IN YOUR AREA
Between the hours of 10.30pm on Saturday 12th and 9.15am on Sunday 13th October unknown offender/s have accessed the enclosed rear garden of a residential property on Stanney Lane. Entry has been gained into the property via the rear patio door, where a hole has been cut into the glass near to the door lock. The offender/s have then reached through to open it with the key.
A search has been made of the ground floor area and a handbag, wallet and purse have been discarded on the floor of the conservatory, minus cash and cards. A Berghaus backpack and contents have also been taken along with a set of car keys, although the vehicle has been left at the address.

· Use automatic timers to switch on lights when you are out.
· Fit outdoor lights with movement sensors.
· Keep valuables out of sight of windows.
· Close and lock all doors and windows when you go out.
· Keep keys out of sight.
· Lock all side and rear gates.
· Have an alarm fitted and make sure it is working correctly.
