Scam Alert

Alert message sent 01/02/2020 17:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello resident,
please see below information from Halton Trading standards relating to telephone calls and text scams.
Scam text messages regarding your mobile phone bill
Halton consumers have been receiving text messages claiming to be from EE (mobile phone network).
The messages states:
[EE]: We were unable to process your latest bill. In order to avoid fees, update your billing information via Clicking on a link
This is a scam, the recipient of the messages is not even an EE customer!

Scam telephone calls claiming your Internet is going to be cut off.
Halton residents have been receiving unsolicited telephone calls claiming their Internet is going to be disconnected. The recorded message then goes on to say the way to resolve the issue is by contacting the ‘technical manager’, either by calling another number or pressing a number on your phones keypad.
This is a scam, do not call the telephone number given or press any of the numbers on your keypad.
Consumers should be alert to any similar scenarios regarding unsolicited telephone calls.
Many thanks
