Rise in reports of dog thefts

Since lockdown began , there has been a rise in the number of reports involving the theft of dogs .

Doglost , a not for profit organisation , report that between 23rd March 2020 to 1st June 2020 there has been a 65% increase in dog theft compared with the same dates in 2019.

This is a national trend and although no local thefts , there have been thefts in nearby Lancashire and North Wales .

Social Media notes that some targeted properties have had chalk markings outside and that thieves are particularly attracted to breeds such as Cocker Spaniels and Terriers .

All dog owners are reminded to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to Cheshire Police .
