Monthly Newsletter (October) Neighbourhood Alert
Schools
Schools successfully opened in September. Unfortunately, we are not able to visit schools inside due to Covid 19 restrictions but as soon as we are able to do so we will attend again and deliver presentations about Police, Road safety, Staying safe and Internet safety.
We met new pupils at Grosvenor Park Academy before October half term. It was lovely to see all students enjoying themselves outside at the school playground.
A new school has just opened its door at Abbey Square. We introduced ourselves and we are really looking forward to work closely with them in the near future.
Parking at Queens School after 3pm has been also monitored.
Vulnerable people
We are keen to look after our vulnerable people in Chester City Centre.
DIAL House is charity run Café where people with various disabilities and learning difficulties can meet, have a cuppa and make new friends. We have a chat with visitors and members of staff and hold a Hate Crime police surgery to raise any concerns. DIAL House is closed due to Covid 19 restrictions but we hope that we can resume this service in the future.
Spider Project Chester, Number 71 is a brand new safe crisis space in the Newtown area, for people struggling with emotional and psychological distress. Local PCSOs visit Number 71 on regular basis to engage with members of staff and visitors.

Police Surgeries
Now we have entered the second lockdown we are having to change the way we engage with our community. Will understand the importance of being approachable and our Police Surgeries will continue but these will be done via Skype. They will be advertised on our social media with the relevant PCSO who is on duty.
Newtown
PCSOs have been in the area of Newtown over October providing Hi Visibility after reports from local residents about drug activity in the alleyways.
If you have information or concerns you can email james.hannath@cheshire.pnn.police.uk
Crime prevention information was posted in Black Diamond Street after a burglary to raise awareness. With the darker days and nights, Christmas around the corner this is an ideal time to update your home security.
Work with Scheme Managers in the student accommodation after reports of ASB and cannabis use. Patrols taking place with an opportunity to engage and support students.
Retail Crime
PCSOs have been busy working alongside our retail community. PCSOs have assisted on a number of stops, assisting security staff detain offenders and producing evidence with CCTV.
These actions have not only stopped offenders but also recovered and returned hundreds of pounds worth of stock for shops.
Night Time Economy
With the 10pm closures in place we saw an increase of crowds in the City Centre streets at that time, we have to say that our Special Constables played a vital role in assisting at these busy and demanding times.
ASB and Young People
During patrol, PCSOs were made aware for the concern of two youths in an intoxicated state, this incident took over three hours due to their drunken state resulting in parents coming for their children.
2 female youths were stopped for shoplifting having over £300 worth of stock from a number of shops.
They were collected by parents are been dealt with by interview.
We have been giving passing attention at the Bus Station after an increase in incidents with youths. We will be working in partnership with both staff and Global Security on these issues.
